About Rebecca

I look after your animals the way I look after my own

My name is Rebecca Minton. I live in St Mary Bourne, I have been in the Bourne Valley [HOW LONG REBECCA HAS LIVED HERE], and I have kept animals all my life. At home there is [REBECCA'S OWN PETS].

I started doing this because I know the feeling. You are due out for the day, or away for a week, and the one thing on your mind is the dog by the door or the cat waiting to be fed. Somebody local should be able to take that off you.

Every animal I take on, I meet first, in your home, with you there. I learn the routine you already have and I keep to it. No two dogs want the same walk and no two cats want the same morning.

What I do

Three things, done properly

Everything is booked by the visit or by the week. There is no contract to sign and no joining fee.

Dog walking

Collected from your door and brought home dry, fed if you ask, and settled before I leave.

  • An hour on the footpaths and downland, or half an hour on the lanes for older dogs
  • Solo walks, or small groups of dogs that already get on
  • Towels and paw wash in the van, so nothing comes back into your hall wet
  • A photo sent from the walk, every time

Feeding and home visits

For cats, and for dogs who are happier at home. I come to the house and do what you would do.

  • Fresh food and water, litter trays emptied and cleaned
  • Time spent with them, brushing, play, or just sitting quietly
  • Medication given, including tablets and eye drops
  • Curtains, lights and post seen to, so the house looks lived in

Holiday cover

You go away. Your animals stay in their own home, in their own routine, and you hear from me daily.

  • One, two or three visits a day, whatever the animal needs
  • A message and photos every day you are away
  • Plants watered, bins out, deliveries taken in
  • Your vet's details held, and I will drive them there if it ever comes to it

Why the walks are different

We have some of the best walking country in Hampshire on the doorstep

Most dog walkers do laps of the same recreation ground. Here we have the Bourne Valley, and there is no reason to.

Your dog gets chalk tracks and open downland, footpaths along the Bourne, headland paths around the barley, hedgerows full of things to smell, and quiet village lanes for the ones who want an easier morning. Different ground every day, and all of it within a few minutes of your gate.

A dog that has had a proper walk comes home tired and sleeps. That is the whole point of it.

Keys held securelyYour key is tagged with a code, never your name or address, and kept in a locked safe at my house. It is signed in and out, and handed back the day you ask for it.
Photos and news while you are awayA message every day with a photo, so you can see for yourself that they are fine. No app to download. It comes as a text or a WhatsApp, whichever you prefer.

The same person, every timeI do the visits myself. You will not open the door to somebody you have never met, and your dog will not either.

How it works

Four steps, and the first two are free

You call or email

Tell me what you have, where you are, and what you need. If I cannot help I will say so and point you to someone who can.

I come and meet you

Half an hour at your house, with your animals there. We go through feeding, medication, the vet, and where things are kept. No charge and no obligation.

We book the dates

Regular days, or one week in the summer. I take a key and give you a written note of what has been agreed and what it costs.

You hear from me

A photo from every walk and a message every day you are away. Come home to a fed animal, a clean tray and a house that has been looked in on.
